Welcome
to the Showcase Artist of the Month. It is my pleasure to
introduce Christy J. Nicholas, from Gainesville Florida, better known
to her friends as CJ. When CJ isn’t beading something with a
Celtic flair, she works as a C.P.A. CJ is a self-taught beader of
three and a half years. She and her husband belong to AMPGARD, a
medieval, live act roll-playing group. An annual competition
called Olympiad was held in Cripple Creek, Colorado this year. CJ
entered this stunning halter and won first place
in the Garb/Accessory category and second place in ALL Around.
Her
sash below won third place in the Garb/Accessory category. The
halter
is made of 11/0 seed beads, bugles, pearls, and fiber optic beads in
rich
blues and purples. The piece is done in square stitch and bead
lace.
Design elements from Tatting With Beads and Celtic Cross Stitch were
used.
The halter took approximately one hundred fifty hours to
complete.
